As an owner of the new Apple iPhone 4S I’ve asked Siri a bunch of useless questions that probably won’t make any difference to my life. However, as a car enthusiast, I’ve always wanted Siri to do more with an automobile rather than just read out texts or reply to texts.
Basically, Siri has the power to communicate with a proxy server, which could then be used to control any internet-connected devices. That was discovered by @plamoni who has now become know as the creator of Siri Proxy.
The chap in this video, known by his YouTube handle fiquett, used his ‘Viper Control’ plugin with plamoni’s ‘Siri Proxy’ to start and stop his Viper SmartStart enabled Acura TL.
“The command is sent from Siri to a Viper server, then relayed via cellular connection to the car,” says fiquett. “The car then broadcasts an update via RF to the key chain remote.”
