It seems Apple began penetrating the world of the automobile industry recently, not from releasing some new fancy iDevice or application to work directly with your iPhone and your car, but rather for the prospect of making an entire car themselves.
And so far, the reactions have been very mixed, with the bias leaning towards the opposition. There’s so much opposition that car heads aren’t the only ones who are disapproving of the idea. Ex-CEO of General Motors, Dan Akerson, even voiced his objection to Apple making a car themselves.
This can be a widely shared opinion since the processes, knowledge, and the know-how to design and build a car and do it well is something that takes a lot of experience and every mass automaker virtually in existence has been around long enough to get the basic recipes down for success.
However, it must be pointed out that not all newly established car companies possess such naivety since Tesla Motors was one of the most recent and successful automotive start-ups. And look at where they are now, despite their nonexistent history.
Head on over to AutomotiveNews to read Akerson’s point of view in full.
